Empire was released on 20 August 1990 and is the band's most commercially successful album to date, reaching triple platinum. The album featured the hit single "Silent Lucidity", which was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and "Jet City Woman". The album, the follow-up to the groundbreaking Operation: Mindcrime, was produced by Peter Collins and recorded in Washington, D.C. and Vancouver in the spring of 1990. Empire features brilliant and intelligent lyrics and songwriting, complemented by incredible musicianship. The songs range from beautiful ballads to powerful melodic rockers to classic heavy pumpers. This release, remastered at Abbey Road studios, brings together all the available recordings and tells the story of this remarkable album. Review , "One of the best metal albums of the late 80s."
