Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band that was formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington. The band gained international recognition with the release of their 1988 concept album "Operation: Mindcrime," which is often considered one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. The success of "Operation: Mindcrime" set the stage for their next album, "Empire," released in 1990, which included the hit single "Silent Lucidity" and propelled the band to even greater heights, achieving triple-platinum status in the United States. Over the years, Queensrÿche has undergone several lineup changes, with lead vocalist Geoff Tate being replaced by Todd La Torre in 2012 after a highly publicized split. Despite these changes, the band has continued to record and tour, maintaining a dedicated fan base. Their discography spans numerous albums and they are known for their complex music and thought-provoking lyrics.
