Queen : Greatest Hits II is a compilation album by British rock band Queen , released on 2 November 1991. It follows the band's first greatest hits album, Queen : Greatest Hits, released in 1981. The album contains seventeen tracks, three of which are new songs recorded by the band in 1991, shortly before the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury. Queen : Greatest Hits II was a commercial success, reaching number one in the United Kingdom and number two in the United States. It went platinum six times in the UK and four times platinum in the US. The album was well received by music critics, who praised the new songs and the selection of older tracks. The first single from the album, "These Are the Days of Our Lives", became a hit in the UK and reached number two in the singles chart. The second single, "I'm Going Slightly Mad", reached number twenty-one in the UK. The third and final single, "Headlong", reached number thirty-one in the UK.
