Es ist damit nun erstmals auch offiziell in Deutschland erhältlich. Parkway Drive gründeten sich 2003 im australischen Byron Bay. Nach einer im selben Jahr erschienen Split-CD mit I Killed The Prom Queen und der 2004er-EP "Don't Close Your Eyes" nahm das Metalcore-Quintett im Frühjahr 2005 den ersten eigenen Langspieler auf. Das Album produzierte kein Geringer als Adam Dutkiewicz, Gitarrist von Killswitch Engage. "Killing With A Smile" macht seinem Namen alle Ehre und bietet elf Stücke reinster Wut. Parkway Drive zelebrieren spielfreudig und mit höchster technischer Präzision tief gestimmte, um tonnenschwere Rhythmen gewundene Deathmetal-Riffs à la Göteborger Schule, gepaart mit plötzlichen Breakdowns und an Körperverletzung grenzenden Blastbeats. Und das alles ohne Falsettgesang, was Parkway Drive bei vielen Szenekundigen diverse Bonuspunkte besorgte. Intelligent und abwechslungsreich bis zum Schluss. The band broke through in their homeland with their debut full-length album Killing With A Smile and are looking to conquer foreign shores this year. Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (of Killswitch Engage), the album had the band jetting off to Massachusetts last year for an intense two-week, twelve-hour-a-day recording session. The resulting album is a large and devastating sonic evisceration through eleven tracks, even echoing down to the cover art, which depicts a man bleeding in the street. With a massive sound that encompassessaw-death riffs, punishing breakdowns, dense rhythmics, chaos-inducing blast beats and technical precision that borders on the eerie, Parkway Drive transcends cliché_ labels like metalcore with ease.Killing With A Smile reached number two on the Australian independent charts and became the best-selling extreme music album in Australia to date. The success of the album and the band's amazing live performances have led to them touring Australia supporting all the major US artists including Bleeding Through, Alexisonfire, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, As I Lay Dying, Hatebreed and Evergreen Terrace, as well as performing at the Gold Coast Big Day Out festival. Parkway Drive are the benchmark of the new wave of Australian extreme music and have been at the forefront of building the Australian hardcore scene into what it is today.
