On March 16, 1968, one of the immortal soul songs in music history celebrates its anniversary: 50 years ago, Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" topped the US pop and R&B charts. It was also Kind of Soul's first hit, but tragically they never lived to see it, as Otis Redding died in a plane crash on 10 December 1967. This left his vision for his next album unfinished - Redding was already working on new songs and exploring different musical influences at the time of the plane crash. Although we'll never know definitively what his next album would have sounded like, the now-released 'Dock Of The Bay Sessions' gives a first glimpse of what it might have been like.
