Nirvana's third and final studio album In Utero was released on September 13, 1993. The album was produced by Steve Albini, who had previously worked with the Pixies and PJ Harvey. In Utero was a departure from the previous album Nevermind, which was produced by Butch Vig. The album's title was inspired by a poem written by Courtney Love. The album cover was designed by Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. The first single from the album, the track "Heart-Shaped Box", was released on August 18, 1993. The album's second single, "All Apologies", was released on December 7, 1993. The album In Utero received mixed reviews from critics. However, the album was commercially successful and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was certified platinum five times by the RIAA. In Utero is considered a classic album and is often included on lists of the best albums of all time.
