The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 48 in the UK Albums Chart. The first single from the album, "Motorhead", reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album, "Too Late, Too Late", charted at number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. The album was praised by critics, with AllMusic calling it "a groundbreaking album in heavy metal history".
