After Morrissey launched his solo career in 1988, the singer-songwriter soon surpassed the commercial success of his former band The Smiths. Over the next ten years, Moz released six studio albums and a string of hit singles before taking a brief hiatus from recording. The collection was originally released only on CD in North America. Parlophone is now bringing back this timeless collection and for the first time ever, The Best Of Morrissey is being released on vinyl, available as a double album. Not long after The Smiths broke up in 1987, Morrissey returned with his solo debut Viva Hate (1988). The album reached the top of the UK album chart and achieved gold status in the UK and the US. The Best Of Morrissey features two key tracks from Viva Hate: "Everyday Is Like Sunday" and "Suedehead". After his debut, the singer released a number of non-album singles, which eventually came together on the album Bona Drag (1990), complete with various B-sides. This collection also achieved gold status in the US and reached the Top 10 in the UK. The Best Of Morrissey features a number of tracks from this album, including "Interesting Drug", "The Last Of The International Playboys" and "Hairdresser On Fire", the b-side of "Suedehead".
