Thirty years ago, Miles Davis caused a stir when he left his Columbia Records label in 1985 and signed with Warner Bros. Records. He then immediately set about recording a new album, which was to be called "Perfect Way", named after a song by the New Wave band Scritti Politti-Song that appeared on the album. On the occasion of a newspaper article about South African Archbishop and anti-apartheid leader Desmond Tutu, producer Tommy LiPuma changed the album's title to one that is still associated with one of Miles Davis' most successful albums: 'Tutu'.
