This is Miles Davis' often overlooked masterpiece Miles in the Sky. This release was his introduction to jazz-rock, which later became known as "fusion". By the time the composer was working with his second great quintet, he was becoming increasingly interested in the use of electric instruments. The first album from his electric phase is a great groove adventure, featuring excellent guest musicians Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock and George Benson. This is a groundbreaking album whose magic extends from the opening notes of Stuff to the atmospheric closing notes of Country Son. This watershed moment in Miles' career is a must for jazz fans, especially for any Miles Davis admirer. Davis is one of the most influential and respected musicians in jazz history. During his career, which spanned five decades, he took different musical directions and was one of the pioneers of the jazz-rock/fusion sound. His best works include the million-selling Kind of Blue (1959), Sketches of Spain (1960) and Bitches Brew (1970).
