Miles Davis and John Coltrane were each carrying out their own jazz revolutions at the time these recordings were made, and the electrifying sonic frenzy created by these artists' sometimes competing and sometimes intersecting musical visions has confounded contemporary jazz fans, many of whom were just becoming familiar with the recently released and now iconic Kind of Blue. "A lot happened on and off the stage on this 1960 tour, including powerful, emotionally charged performances where you can hear the band's swinging, disjointed energy and the unfiltered reactions of the European audience.
