Mark Lanegan is one of the busiest artists on the American rock scene. From his time fronting grunge icons The Screaming Trees, to his years with stoner rock stars Queens Of The Stone Age, to his current band The Gutter Twins and his collaboration with Isobel Campbell: when the 1964 Seattle-born singer and guitarist collaborates on a project, the result is outstanding. Whether it's the style, songwriting, voice, haunting lyrics or overall aura, Lanegan exudes something mystical and dark. Such is the case on his seventh solo album, "Blues Funeral," his first self-titled effort since 2004's "Bubblegum." Once again, he's been backed by a number of notable musicians, including Josh Homme, Greg Dulli, Jack Irons (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam) and Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age), who produced "Blues Funeral" at his studio in Los Angeles.
