4CD / Blu-ray and deluxe vinyl version of the band's debut with new mixes, the Market Square EP, an unreleased concert and a brand new documentary! With their very first album, Marillion established themselves as the rightful guardians of progressive rock and took this often underrated genre in a new direction. The album Script For A Jester's Tear was released in March 1983 and immediately went platinum in its native UK, where it reached No. 7 on the album chart and featured two Top 40 singles, "He Knows You Know" (No. 35) and "Garden Party" (No. 16). Rhino shines a light on this popular neo-prog with two versions of Script For A Jester's Tear: Deluxe Edition. One version consists of a 4-CD/Blu-ray package, while the other is being released as a high-quality 4-LP collection. Originally produced by Nick Tauber, Script For A Jester's Tear is the only Marillion album recorded with the line-up of Fish (vocals), Steve Rothery (guitar), Pete Trewavas (bass), Mark Kelly (keys) and Mick Pointer (drums). Both Deluxe editions begin with a remixed stereo version of Script For A Jester's Tear, by Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh. In addition, there are new stereo mixes of the B-side "Charting The Single", released in January 1982, and the Market Square EP, which followed in October of that year. Both versions also include the first release of previously unreleased concert footage documenting Marillion's concert at London's Marquee Club on 29 December 1982. The concert was recorded a few months before the release of Script For A Jester's Tear and included live versions of all six songs from the album: 'He Knows You Know', 'The Web', 'Garden Party', 'Chelsea Monday', 'Forgotten Sons' and the title track. The concert also featured album tracks such as "Three Boats Down From The Candy" and the nineteen-minute epic "Grendel" from the Market Square EP. You can also hear a live version of "Margaret", which appeared in an alternate version on the B-side of the single "Garden Party". The Blu-ray features 96k/24-bit versions of the new stereo mixes of Script For A Jester's Tear, the Market Square Heroes EP and the Live At The Marquee concert. In addition, a remix of Script For A Jester's Tear is available in 5.1 surround sound. The package is rounded out with a brand new documentary featuring interviews with the band about Marillion's formation in Aylesbury in 1979 through to the release of Script For A Jester's Tear in 1983.
