Kreator's 14th studio album "Gods of Violence" was released on January 27, 2017. The album was produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. This is the first Kreator album , on which drummer Ventor has contributed since 1992's "Renewal". The first single from the album, "Satan Is Real", was released on 16 December 2016. The music video for the song was directed by Andi Thalhammer and premiered on January 12, 2017. The album "Gods of Violence" was met with mostly positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 79, which means "generally favorable rating" based on 7 reviews. Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 out of 5 stars and said, "The album is very good: Gods of Violence is an album that could only have been made by a band that has been around as long as Kreator - and sounds like it. At the same time, it's an album that doesn't rest on its laurels and instead pushes the band's sound to new heights.
