King Crimson: Radical Action (To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind) version on 3CD/Blu-ray in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Discipline Global Mobile in cooperation with Panegyric and Inner Knot on 20. January 2023.
It is often said that King Crimson is not so much a band as a "way of doing things". Less often, but still just as true, it is said that the band inevitably finds other ways of doing things. The band's current 2014 rebirth has already released two teaser sets of live material. The 2015 "Live at the Orpheum" mini-album and vinyl EP with picture disc that accompanied the 2015 Canadian and Japanese tours, and the 2-CD set "Live in Toronto" with the complete 2015 Toronto show footage that hit stores in early 2016. Now comes "Radical Action," the band's most elaborate audio and video testimony to date. The 3-disc CD and Blu-ray disc offer many ways to enjoy the sound and footage in a variety of ways with lossless, high-resolution mixes in stereo or 5.1 surround sound. The set includes at least one version of every song King Crimson played in 2015. Some of the tracks date back to the band's early days in 1969, while others were composed and first performed at different points in the band's career. In addition to the new material, all songs were arranged specifically for the new lineup. Indeed, the reference to material from 1969-1974 is an important feature of the new King Crimson, which stands in direct contrast to all other post-1970s line-ups. The performance contains much of what made the music so captivating at the time, but is arranged in a refreshing interpretation by the new seven-piece line-up. Asked for the meaning of the album's title, Fripp replied, "What I like about this band is that it doesn't actually do what it seems to do...". The idea of King Crimson has been reimagined in such a way that the music is new and regardless of the era in which it was created, it is a key element of this band. The set is released to mark the most extensive European tour since 1974 and includes material from all seven King Crimson studio albums from 1969-1974. Audio: Three themed CDs of material from 2015, each featuring individual performances with audio material culled from a large number of concerts and mixed from multi-track recordings by Chris Porter, Robert Fripp and David Singleton. (The current line-up of King Crimson was deliberately perceived as a concert band rather than a band whose main activity is making studio recordings) Video: Arguably one of the biggest problems with filming live concerts is the use of cameras in a way that interferes with the audience's ability to enjoy the show without being interrupted by filming the band's performance. Thus, the performance and audience reactions must be distorted to create a live show for later consumption. In order to accurately film the performance, a number of concerts in Japan were filmed in a 'video vérité' style by Trevor Wilkins using several unobtrusively placed cameras, who also edited and edited the footage so that neither the band nor the audience were disturbed. Audio/video: The Blu-ray disc contains the concert film in high-definition (24/48) 5.1 stereo and surround sound, with an additional "Video Off" mode that allows for high-definition stereo and surround sound. This allows you to experience music in different ways. As continuous and uninterrupted sound on CD, as a movie with stereo or 5.1 surround sound or in high definition, lossless stereo or 5.1 surround sound on Blu-ray. The set includes 2 cardboard mini vinyl-style sleeves that fit 4 discs, and a booklet with photos and information about the recordings.
