Wiener Philharmoniker: John Williams In Vienna version on vinyl 2LP in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Germany in publishing company Deutsche Grammophon on 30. October 2020.
Legendary American film composer John Williams conducts the Vienna Philharmonic for the first time - "Besuch vom lieben Gott" (A Visit from God) - so read the headline in the Standard, "a standing ovation at the first performance: as if God were being received by earthly disciples". John Williams documents a historic performance in Vienna - a "very special tribute" in the composer's life The Hollywood Symphony sounds on the stage of Vienna's Musikverein - the world-famous orchestra plays iconic themes from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and other milestones in film history Anne-Sophie Mutter performs as a guest with arrangements for violin, specially arranged for her by Williams Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park - the soundtracks by the master of movie magic John Williams are among the most popular in film history and have won countless prestigious awards, including five Oscars, five Emmys, four Golden Globes and twenty-five Grammys. Now, for the first time, the legendary American film composer has recorded some of the most famous, beautiful and moving iconic themes with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. "Sternstunden der Filmmusik" - that was the headline of the Wiener Zeitung: "Hollywood's grandmaster thrilled with excerpts from his life's work on the Vienna Philharmonic stage." Williams' two concerts at the Musikverein in Vienna on 18 and 19 January 2020 were the first ever conducted by the composer in continental Europe. Working with the Vienna Philharmonic was "a very special honour" in his life. Alongside Williams and the orchestra, the first half of the concert featured another exceptional artist on stage: Anne-Sophie Mutter. The conductor and violinist thus continued their artistic partnership after the release of their joint album Across the Stars. The new album "John Williams in Vienna" combines iconic themes from the films of E. T, Jaws, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and other milestones in film history, as well as two previously unreleased arrangements for violin that Williams specially arranged for Mutter, "The Devil's Dance" from The Witches of Eastwick and "March of the Raiders" from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not to be missed, of course, is the world-famous "Imperial March" from Star Wars. "One of the best renditions of this march I've ever heard," Williams remarked. The limited edition set of two 180g vinyls in a high-quality gatefold sleeve includes elegant gold foil on the cover.
Album spans genres Classical, Stage & Screen, Partiture and Soundtrack. 180g Gatefold Vinyl.
