"After Bathing at Baxter's" is the third album by San Francisco rock band Jefferson Airplane. Jefferson Airplane started 1967 with Surrealistic Pillow and ended it with After Bathing at Baxter's, and what a difference ten months made. The album was one of the purest psychedelic albums in rock, and it was also much bolder. The album saw the band transforming, as singer and guitarist Marty Balin relinquished most of his creative influence on the band he had founded, leaving Paul Kantner and Grace Slick to co-write the songs and provide vocals on all but one track ("Young Girl Sunday Blues"). The album reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 in 1968 and the single "Ballad Of You & Me & Pooneil" reached number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967.
