It was released at a time when HANCOCK was moving towards mainstream smooth jazz/R&B fusion, much like jazz fusion pianist PATRICE RUSHEN. The hit "I Thought It Was You" comes from the album. As a whole, the album leans more towards funk and less towards jazz and is reminiscent of the electro-funk tracks of the time. It heralds the beginning of the electro style of the 80s era, which was perfected on later HERBIE albums such as "Future Shock" and "Sound-System".
