Genesis is an album by British rock band Genesis , released in 1983. It was their eleventh studio album and their first since the departure of Phil Collins in 1981. The album was recorded at The Farm recording studio in Surrey, England and was produced by Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. The album reached number two in the UK and number six in the United States. The album spawned four singles, "Mama", "That's All", "Invisible Touch" and "Throwing It All Away". The album was certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Genesis is a departure from the band's earlier work and features a poppier sound. The album was a critical and commercial success and is cited as one of the band's best albums. In 2007, the album was re-released in a deluxe edition that included a second disc of demos and live recordings.
