Abacab was the eleventh studio album by British rock band Genesis, released in September 1981. The album departed from the band's earlier progressive rock sound and instead featured a poppier style. The album was commercially successful, reaching number one in the UK and number three in the US. The album's lead single, "Abacab", was a top ten hit in both countries. The album "Abacab" is widely regarded as one of Genesis' strongest albums. Critics have praised the band's new pop sound. The album was critically and commercially successful and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The album Abacab has been cited as an influence by a number of artists, including Radiohead and Muse.
