Legendary Marathon Recording Elvis Presley fans can look forward to a special release in 2020: 'From Elvis In Nashville', the long-awaited definitive chronicle of Elvis Presley's legendary marathon recording session with the 'Nashville Cats' in 1970. In June 1970, Elvis Presley traveled from his home in Memphis to Nashville, where he rented a room in RCA Studio B for five recording days. In 1970, Elvis Presley went to Nashville, where he was able to get a recording studio. There he was accompanied by musicians such as Charlie McCoy and Norbert Putnam, the legendary "Nashville Cats". The result became known among fans as the "Marathon Sessions". The five-day sessions began in the early evening and lasted until dawn. They produced a variety of material, including a rousing version of Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away," a heartbreaking "I've Lost You," a cover version of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and a new version of "Love Letters." Highlights include a wild one-take version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On". And those are now available on four overstuffed CDs or two LPs. "From Elvis In Nashville" shows the King of Rock 'n' Roll at his absolute best. Sound engineer and Grammy winner Matt Ross-Spang remixed the recordings for the release, stripping them of additional orchestration and overdubs.
