On March 24, 1958, Elvis Presley joined the U.S. Army, where he served until March 1960. There was a lot of pressure on Elvis in civilian life, with RCA ordering an initial run of one million copies of his first comeback album before all the songs had been selected, let alone recorded. When he walked into the RCA recording studio in Nashville in March 1960 to record "Elvis Is Back," now reissued on a 180g pressing, expectations were exceedingly high.
