It was originally released on October 24, 1975 and went straight to number one in the US charts. In John's native UK, however, it only reached number five. However, the single "Island Girl" did reach the top there. The second single was "Grow Some Funk of Your Own / I Feel Like a Bullet (In the Gun of Robert Ford)". For re-release on vinyl in 2017, the album was remastered from the original analog tapes by Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering) and edited by Sean Magee at Abbey Road studios. A classic completely remastered back on vinyl: Elton John's tenth album "Rock Of The Westies". In addition to "Rock Of The Westies", 2017 will also see the release of "Tumbleweed Connection", "Honky Château", "Caribou", "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player", "Blue Moves", "The Big Picture" and "Empty Sky" on vinyl.
