The perfect exploration of Elton John's extensive catalogue, 'Jewel Box' features a selection of insider tracks chosen by Elton John himself, rarities from the earliest stages of his musical journey and Bernie Taupin's musical career, b-sides spanning 30 years and songs covered in Elton's best-selling and critically acclaimed 2019 memoir 'Me'. The eight CDs are packaged in a beautiful hardcover book with an outer sleeve. Each volume includes detailed liner notes and "Deep Cuts" features Elton's commentary on each track. The set contains an unprecedented number of previously unheard, unreleased tracks from 1967-1969, the years that cemented the foundations of the iconic John-Taupin partnership. "Jewel Box" is a real treasure for Elton John fans. More than 80 of the 148 tracks in this collection are being released digitally for the first time; 60 of them have never before been available in any format. "It has been a great pleasure to go through every stage of his career in such detail for Jewel Box," John said in a press release. "Hearing these long-lost tracks again, it's hard for me to understand how prolific Bernie and I were in the early days. The songs just poured out of us and the band was incredible in the studio. In everything I do, I always want to move forward and look to the future, but having the time during Lockdown to take stock and pull out the moments from each period was a joy. As an avid record collector, I was really excited about this project and couldn't be happier with the level of craftsmanship that was put into such a carefully selected and lovingly crafted boxset. I'm sure my fans will enjoy it as much as I did."
