"The Lockdown Sessions" - název nového alba Eltona Johna mluví za vše. Všechny nahrávky na albu mají společné to, že byly nahrány nebo vydány v době současné celosvětové pandemie.

"Poslední věc, kterou jsem chtěl během výluky dělat, bylo natáčení alba. Ale jak pandemie pokračovala, objevovaly se jedinečné projekty," říká zpěvák.

Na desce pracoval 18 měsíců s několika významnými spolupracovníky, mezi nimiž byli například Eddie Vedder, Charlie Puth, Young Thug, Stevie Nicks, The Gorillaz, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj a další.

Zvláštní doba si však žádala zvláštní přístup: "Některé nahrávací relace musely probíhat na dálku, přes Zoom, což jsem samozřejmě nikdy předtím nedělal. Některá sezení se nahrávala za velmi přísných bezpečnostních opatření: Pracovali jsme společně s dalším umělcem, ale odděleni skleněnými tabulemi," říká Elton John.

Výsledkem bylo 16 písní, nové i dříve vydané spolupráce, původní písně i coververze, například "It's A Sin" od Pet Shop Boys nebo "Nothing Else Matters" od Metallicy. Celý seznam skladeb a všechny přispěvatele na "The Lockdown Sessions" najdete níže.

John k výběru skladeb a průběhu sessions řekl: "Ale všechny skladby, na kterých jsem pracoval, byly opravdu zajímavé a rozmanité, velmi odlišné od všeho, čím jsem známý, něco, co mě vyvedlo z mé komfortní zóny do zcela nové oblasti. A uvědomil jsem si, že tento způsob práce je mi podivně blízký. Na začátku své kariéry, koncem 60. let, jsem pracoval jako studiový hudebník. Práce s různými umělci během výluky mi tu dobu připomněla. Kruh se mi uzavřel: Znovu jsem se stal sessionovým hudebníkem. A pořád to byla velká zábava."

První singl z "The Lockdown Sessions" vyšel s písní "Cold Heart" společně s britskou popovou zpěvačkou Dua Lipa a australským elektropopovým duem Pnau.

S mnoha oceněními, šesti cenami Grammy, Oscarem, Zlatým glóbem a cenou Tony a 300 miliony prodaných desek je Elton John jedním z nejúspěšnějších umělců v hudební historii.
