Coldplay's debut album Parachutes, released in 2000, became an instant hit thanks to its emotional and heartfelt songs. The album was recorded in Chris Martin's bedroom and the band's raw and intimate sound is evident in tracks like "Shiver" and "Yellow". The Parachutes album sold over 8 million copies worldwide and the singles "Yellow" and "Trouble" reached number one in the UK charts.
