One of them is Claude Debussy, whose death in March 2018 will mark 100 years since his death. He was one of the first to discover sound as a means of making music. Where others were discovering new harmonies, melodies or rhythms, he succeeded with his own 'sound', which later entered history as Impressionism. The LP Impressions - The Sound of Debussy brings together highlights from his groundbreaking recordings. If any musical genre is destined for the high sonic demands of 180g vinyl, it is Debussy's Impressionism. His music is reminiscent of an endless stream of consciousness in vibrant colours that shine out in a rainbow of colours on legendary recordings by Debussy specialists led by conductors Jean Martinon, Jean-Francois Paillard and Carlo Maria Giulini. The first side of the LP is devoted to the piano work - with Debussy's absolute hit Claire de Lune (Moonlight) with Cecile Ousset leading a glorious line-up of pianists that also includes Michel Beroff, Samson Francois, Yuri Yegorov and Debussy himself, who is represented by a rare recording of the piano part.
