Chvrches: Screen Violence LTD | CLR version on vinyl LP in limited colored edition. This particular edition was published in USA in publishing company Goodbye Records (2) on 27. August 2021.
Back to the screen: Chvrches with album number 4 Chvrches are back. The Scottish electropop heroes from Glasgow are releasing their new fourth LP in 2021: "Screen Violence" is the title of the follow-up to 2018's "Love Is Dead". The album's title was originally intended as the band's name, and it was in 2011 that their story began to be written. A decade later, at a time when the reality of screen violence is more relevant than ever, when one experiences a world of trauma as if it were another world, Chvrches have revived the term for the title of their upcoming album. The theme of screen violence takes three main forms - on screen, from screen and through screen - and touches on feelings of loneliness, disillusionment, fear, heartbreak and regret. Singer Lauren Mayberry explains, "I think it was helpful for me to go into the process with the idea that I could write something almost escapist. At first I found it very liberating to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through, but in the end all the lyrics were definitely still personal." Martin Doherty (synth, sampler, vocals) adds: "For me, the screen aspect was a bit more literal. When we recorded the record, it was like we lived half of our lives through screens. What started as a concept became a lifeline." So work on Screen Violence began in 2020 during the Corona pandemic. Through video calls and audio sharing programs, the band first exchanged ideas and then went to various studios in Glasgow and Los Angeles, where Chvrches eventually recorded ten songs. The album produced its first single, the song "How To Not Drown", co-written by Robert Smith of The Cure. Inspired by industrial rock, characterized by an electro-pop feel and co-written by one of the band's musical heroes, the single explores the concept of staying conscious while drowning. With "He Said She Said," the band released another track from the new album in April. This song was the first one they wrote as part of the project. It was inspired by Mayberry's experiences with sexism, which she described as "a way of coming to terms with the things she accepted that she knew she shouldn't." "Being a woman is fucking exhausting and it was better to shout it out in a pop song than into the void," Mayberry said. Chvrches will celebrate the band's tenth anniversary in 2021. The band, made up of singer Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, formed in Glasgow in 2011. The members met at university. They have been celebrating success with their mix of electro-pop, indietronica and synth pop. Their previous albums "The Bones of What You Believe" (2013), "Every Open Eye" (2015) and "Love Is Dead" (2018) have all reached the top ten in the UK charts.
Album spans genres Pop, Electronic and Synth-pop. Opaque Red Transparent Vinyl Limited Indie Edition.
