Product Information After a six-year hiatus, legendary ambient formation Carbon Based Lifeforms return with their most haunting work yet. The Swedish duo's fifth album "Derelicts" takes the band's massive analogue ambient to new heights. Following the traditions established in CBL's early trilogy, the band's quiet exoplanetary atmosphere - evoking the incredible journey between Earth and the darkest universe - is on full display. "Derelicts" begins where the group's incredible 2010 work "Interloper" ends, growing outward from everything the group brought before. Utilizing a vast array of analog synthesis along with sampled dishwashers, water pumps, escalators and dental toys; the album comments on the most organic of life forces through self-constructed machines. Evoking a similar vibe to the music of Brian Eno's Apollo, the early works of Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada, CBL is an obscure soundtrack to the long-running search between the nature of Earth and extraterrestrial existence. It's best enjoyed with a bottle of wine (or two) and massive headphones.
