Celebrating 25 years in 2012, Naxos has evolved from its beginnings as a budget label to a leading classical music force. History Started in 1987, Naxos was the brainchild of Klaus Heymann, a German-born entrepreneur and music lover based in Hong Kong, and has become the world’s leading classical music label in terms of number of new releases and breadth of catalog. Heymann’s strategy of recording exciting new repertoire with exceptional talent has been recognized with 18 GRAMMY® awards, over 150 Gramophone Editor’s Choice Awards and numerous other honors. To boost the sales for his electronics equipment company, Heymann began organizing concerts of classical music in Hong Kong sponsored by Bose and Revox.
