Turin Brakes

Turin Brakes

British Folk-Rock Duo

Turin Brakes is a British band formed in 1999 in Balham, London, by childhood friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian. The duo expanded to a quartet with the addition of Rob Allum and Eddie Myer. They are known for their folk-tinged indie rock sound and are part of the new acoustic movement that gained prominence in the early 2000s. Turin Brakes achieved mainstream success with their debut album "The Optimist LP," which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and featured the hit single "Underdog (Save Me)." They have maintained a consistent presence in the UK music scene, releasing several albums that have garnered critical acclaim. Their discography includes "Ether Song" (2003), which contained the popular track "Pain Killer (Summer Rain)," and they continued to produce music into the 2020s with albums like "Invisible Storm" (2018). Turin Brakes is known for their evocative lyrics, intricate guitar work, and harmonious vocals, which have earned them a loyal fan base and sustained their career over two decades.
