Her breakthrough came with Airbus (3) / 5000 Volts and the 1975 disco hit I'm On Fire followed shortly after by her solo successes.
Her session work also includes backing Elton John and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, a.o. on the hit Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me).
Her chosen stage name of Charles was a tribute to her father, Charles Hoskins.
