Pioneering Southern Hip-Hop Group

Three 6 Mafia, a pioneering hip-hop group from Memphis, Tennessee, was formed in 1991. The group originally consisted of DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard), Juicy J (Jordan Houston), and Lord Infamous (Ricky Dunigan), with members Crunchy Black, Gangsta Boo, and Koopsta Knicca joining later. They are known for their dark, horror-themed lyrics and beats that contributed to the development of the Southern rap subgenre known as crunk. Three 6 Mafia gained significant acclaim with their 1995 debut album "Mystic Stylez," which became an underground classic and established their reputation in the hip-hop community.
