Scritti Politti is a British band formed in 1977 in Leeds, England, primarily known for its main member, singer-songwriter Green Gartside. Initially a post-punk outfit, Scritti Politti underwent a transformation in sound and style in the early 1980s, moving towards a more polished pop aesthetic. The band's most successful album, "Cupid & Psyche 85," released in 1985, showcased this new direction with a blend of pop and funk, featuring hits such as "Perfect Way" and "The Word Girl." This album marked their peak commercial success and was critically acclaimed for its innovative use of sampling and synthesizers.
