Los Lobos is an American rock band from East Los Angeles, California, whose music is influenced by rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music such as boleros and norteños. Formed in 1973 by David Hidalgo, Louie Pérez, Cesar Rosas, Conrad Lozano, and Steve Berlin, the group gained popularity in the 1980s with their album "How Will the Wolf Survive?" in 1984. They further cemented their place in popular culture with their cover of Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba" for the biographical film of the same name in 1987; the song became a number one hit in the U.S. and several other countries.
