Jurassic 5 is an American alternative hip-hop group that formed in 1993. The group was known for its unique style, which blended harmonious, old-school flows with a modern, upbeat energy. The members of Jurassic 5 are rappers Chali 2na, Akil, Zaakir, Mark 7even, and DJs Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist. They gained fame with their eponymous EP "Jurassic 5" in 1997, which included the hit track "Concrete Schoolyard." Their success continued with the release of their critically acclaimed full-length debut album "Quality Control" in 2000. This was followed by their sophomore album "Power In Numbers" in 2002, which further solidified their place in the hip-hop community with tracks like "What's Golden." The group's style is often characterized by a back-to-basics approach to hip-hop, focusing on skillful lyricism and DJing over flashy or commercial trends. Despite disbanding in 2007, Jurassic 5 reunited in 2013 and has since performed at various music festivals and events.
