J.B. Lenoir

J.B. Lenoir

Influential Chicago Blues Musician

J.B. Lenoir was an American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, born on March 5, 1929, in Monticello, Mississippi. He became known for his distinctive high-pitched voice and the political commentary within his music, which was somewhat unusual for blues at the time. Lenoir's career began in the early 1950s when he moved to Chicago and became a part of the city's thriving blues scene. His recording career spanned through the 1950s and 1960s, during which he produced a number of singles that have since become blues classics.
