Haircut One Hundred

Haircut One Hundred

British New Wave Pop Band

Haircut One Hundred was a British new wave band that achieved popularity in the early 1980s. Formed in 1980 by Nick Heyward, Les Nemes, and Graham Jones, the band quickly became known for their catchy pop melodies and funky rhythms, which were characteristic of the post-punk era's buoyant music scene. Their debut album "Pelican West," released in 1982, was a commercial success and spawned several UK hit singles, including "Love Plus One" and "Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)," which helped define the sound of the early '80s. Despite their initial success, frontman Nick Heyward left the band in 1983 to pursue a solo career. Haircut One Hundred attempted to continue without him, releasing their second album "Paint and Paint" in 1984 with markedly less commercial success. The band eventually disbanded, but they left behind a legacy of being one of the defining groups of the New Romantic movement with their upbeat and stylish pop tunes. Later compilations like "Favourite Songs: The Best Of Nick Heyward & Haircut 100" helped to celebrate their contributions to the music of that era.
