Eumir Deodato

Eumir Deodato

Brazilian Jazz-Fusion Keyboardist and Composer

Eumir Deodato is a Brazilian pianist, composer, arranger, and producer who has made a significant impact on the world of music across multiple genres, including jazz, funk, and pop. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1943, Deodato's career spans over five decades, during which he has released numerous albums and worked with a wide array of artists. His 1973 album "Prelude," released by CTI Records, included his widely acclaimed adaptation of Richard Strauss's "Also Sprach Zarathustra," which became a hit and won him a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. Following the success of "Prelude," Deodato continued to explore his unique fusion of classical, jazz, and funk sounds with the release of "Deodato 2" in 1973.
