Die Wiener Sängerknaben

Die Wiener Sängerknaben

Austrian Boys Choir

The Wiener Sängerknaben, also known as the Vienna Boys' Choir, is one of the oldest boys' choirs in the world and a cultural institution of Austria. The choir is a symbol of Austrian musical tradition and has its roots dating back to the late Middle Ages, with its origins traced to 1498 when Emperor Maximilian I moved his court to Vienna and decreed that there should be six boys among his court musicians. Over the centuries, the choir has evolved and now consists of talented young singers from various nations who are selected through rigorous auditions.
