Boney M.

Boney M.

Disco and Pop Group from the 70s

Boney M. is a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the group achieved major popularity during the disco era in the late 1970s. Boney M.'s sound is characterized by a mix of reggae, disco, funk, gospel, soul, and pop, which provided a distinctive dance rhythm and an upbeat vibe that resonated with audiences worldwide. The group's classic lineup consisted of four West Indian artists working in London: Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett (vocalists), Maizie Williams (dancer and vocalist), and Bobby Farrell (dancer and showman). They are best known for hits such as "Daddy Cool," "Ma Baker," "Rasputin," "Rivers of Babylon," and "Sunny." Over the years, Boney M. has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful acts in the history of the music industry. Their stage performances were highly theatrical and engaging, contributing to their reputation as excellent entertainers. Despite changes in the lineup and periods of inactivity, Boney M.'s music has remained influential and continues to be celebrated through compilations, remixes, and sampled tracks by various artists across different genres.
