Progressive Death Metal Project of Opeths Bassist

White Stones is a progressive death metal band formed by Opeth's bassist, Martin Mendez. The project serves as an outlet for Mendez's own creative compositions, separate from his work with the renowned Swedish progressive metal band. White Stones' debut album, "Kuarahy," was released on March 13, 2020, through Nuclear Blast. The title "Kuarahy" is a reference to Mendez's Uruguayan roots, meaning "sun" in Guaraní, the language of his homeland's indigenous people. The band followed up with their second album, "Dancing Into Oblivion," on August 27, 2021. White Stones' music is characterized by a blend of heavy riffs, intricate arrangements, and a balance between aggression and melody, showcasing Mendez's diverse musical influences and talents as a composer and musician within the metal genre.
