Russian Conductor and Composer

Vladimir Verbitsky is a Russian conductor, not typically known as a composer or a band member. Born on January 1, 1935, in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now St. Petersburg, Russia), he has had a distinguished career as a conductor both in his native Russia and internationally. Verbitsky graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory and went on to win the All-Union Conductors Competition in Moscow. He has served as the principal conductor of several orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of the Karelian ASSR, the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Leningrad State Philharmonic Society.
