British soul and funk band

The Real Thing is a British soul group that achieved considerable success in the 1970s and 1980s. Formed in Liverpool in 1970, the band originally consisted of brothers Chris and Eddy Amoo, Dave Smith, and Ray Lake. They are best known for their hit single "You to Me Are Everything," which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1976. The Real Thing's sound was a blend of soul, R&B, and disco, and they were among the few UK bands at the time to achieve success with that type of sound.
