British rock band from the 1960s

The Nashville Teens are a British pop band formed in Weybridge, Surrey in 1962. They are best known for their 1964 hit single "Tobacco Road," which reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart and number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band's name was derived from their desire to have an American-sounding moniker, despite being from the UK. The Nashville Teens were part of the British Invasion, contributing to the wave of British bands that became popular in the United States during the mid-1960s.
