The Merseys

The Merseys

1960s British beat group

The Merseys were a British pop rock band that emerged from the Liverpool music scene in the 1960s, part of the Merseybeat movement. They were an evolution of The Merseybeats, a group formed in 1961 by Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley. After The Merseybeats disbanded in 1966, Crane and Kinsley continued as a duo under the name The Merseys. They are best known for their hit single "Sorrow," which reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 1966. Despite their initial success, The Merseys struggled to maintain their momentum and eventually faded from the spotlight. Their music, however, has been compiled in various collections that celebrate the sounds of the era, including albums that feature their complete recordings from the sixties.
