The Lurking Fear

Swedish death metal supergroup

The Lurking Fear is a death metal supergroup formed in Sweden around 2016. The band consists of notable members from the Swedish extreme metal scene, including Tomas Lindberg on vocals, best known for his work with At the Gates, and guitarists Jonas Stålhammar of God Macabre and Fredrik Wallenberg from Skitsystem. The lineup is completed by bassist Andreas Axelsson, who has played with Edge of Sanity and Marduk, and drummer Adrian Erlandsson, also of At the Gates and The Haunted fame. Their music is characterized by a blend of old-school death metal influences with a modern production approach. The Lurking Fear's debut album, "Out Of The Voiceless Grave," was released in 2017 to positive reviews from fans and critics alike, showcasing their ability to craft intense and atmospheric death metal tracks. They followed up with their second album "Death, Madness, Horror, Decay" which continued to build upon their established sound. The band's name itself is a nod to the horror literature of H.P. Lovecraft, which also influences their lyrical themes.
