The Congos are a reggae vocal group from Jamaica formed in the early 1970s by "Ashanti" Roy Johnson (tenor), Cedric Myton (falsetto), and Watty Burnett (baritone). They are best known for their iconic album "Heart of The Congos," released in 1977, which was produced by the legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark studio. This album is widely considered a masterpiece of roots reggae music and features a rich, multi-layered sound that has influenced many artists within the genre.
