The Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band is a German funk music ensemble known for their unique blend of Caribbean steel drum music with classic funk, soul, and hip-hop beats. The group was formed by members of the Mighty Mocambos, a funk band, and is led by Björn Wagner. Wagner was inspired to start the band after spending time in Trinidad and Tobago and falling in love with steel drum music. The Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band gained recognition for their covers of well-known songs, which they reinterpreted using steel pans, giving the tunes a distinctive tropical flavor while maintaining a deep groove characteristic of funk.
