Shorty Long

Shorty Long

Motown Singer-Songwriter and Pianist

Shorty Long, born Frederick Earl Long on May 20, 1940, was an American soul singer, songwriter, and musician known for his work with Motown Records during the 1960s. His most notable hit was "Here Comes the Judge" released in 1968, which capitalized on the catchphrase from the popular comedy show "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In." Shorty Long's unique contribution to Motown came in his ability to play multiple instruments and his flair for comedic and novelty songs, which set him apart from other Motown artists who were primarily focused on romantic themes.
